The STAR-TIDES program seeks to educate and train those who could use STAR-TIDES-like solutions for economic development and emergency response activities such as humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and refugee support temporarily restoring infrastructure.  All activities will be independent of the power grid, and communications will be live.

The STAR-TIDES event featured active demonstrations in the following four scenarios throughout the entire week:
- Stabilization and Reconstruction in Afghanistan
- Disaster response and relief in the US
- Refugee Camp in Sub-Sahara Africa
- Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster relief in Central America

GATR’s participation was focused mainly on Stabilization and Reconstruction in Afghanistan portion of the demonstrations. GATR displayed its 1m, 1.8m, 2.4m, and 4.6m antenna systems for the event. The GATR Antenna Systems simulated the Afghanistan environment by implementing a Satellite to FAB-Fi wireless link developed at MIT. One of the GATR Antenna Systems was powered completely via solar power. GATR currently has had a working satellite system in Jalalabad, Afghanistan supporting Stability Operations efforts for the past 1.5 years.
GATR will also be participating in similar demonstrations this week (October 13-15) in the Pentagon courtyard.
